Right on

Those are my words of the day. I have no idea why, but they are. I had a Really Awesome Weekend that really can't be summarized into words. Seriously. Saturday night was this:

Group of friends' annual Halloween festiva, the wifey came up with the Best Halloween Costume Idea Ever. She said one night "why don't we be the Biggest Boozer!" A couple red t-shirts, some hours with photoshop, some iron-on transfers, a bike helmet, some aquarium tubing, some bottle holders and some Fat Tire later - we had a winner. As soon as I have better pics of the shirts/us together I'll post 'em, but man was it fun. Some observations:
1.) I clearly cannot drink wine, for this was my best "I'm drinking wine and I'm better than all of you" pose.

2.) Fat Tire now comes in a can for easy transport, and it tastes just as glorious in a can as it does from a bottle. FYI Fat Tire is probably my favorite beer, I don't drink a lot anymore so when I do I go for good brews. New Belgium has my other faves, and I try to stick with their brews for numerous reasons, first and foremost being that they are Good Stuff and second being that they "get it" with environmental responsibility.

3.) Good buddy Steve, the host of said fiesta, not only brews excellent beer himself but also does good with vino as well. I'm not a wine person, but that was a glass of his Reisling, and it was pretty good. His beer, though, is utterly amazing.

4.) I had a drag of a cigarette, probably my first since before we decided to have Nicholas (I can't remember if I had one at my bachelor party or not), about 18 months ago. It was utterly disgusting. And that makes me more happy than you will ever know.

5.) Apparently several folks commented to my wife that they didn't recognize me - people I haven't seen in two years. Also pretty happy with that.

Summary: Good times and good friends.

This morning upon departure it was either 29 degrees or 32 degrees, depending on who you ask. Me? I say it was cold. Damn cold. However, I made it, and I actually was singing "Long December" by the time I rolled up to work (I know, horrible pop song, but it seemed appropriate). 7 miles of goodness to cleanse the soul this morning, it felt really good. You know, once I put the Baclavah on my head to contain brain/ear freeze.

Should be a good week for ridin'. Couple cold mornings, but afternoon temps are supposed to get back into the 60's, maybe even 70's by week end.

A healthy body brings a healthy mind. And with both, you might just really have some fun. This weekend taught me that in full, and as cold as it might get, I'd never go back to the Bummer Life for anything now. Bring it on, old man winter, bring it on.
